I put together a little wrapping/shipping station a couple weeks ago in my basement. It’s in my creepy not yet remodeled (maybe never will be) laundry storage room. But it is a bright spot in a ugly room and is working great to have things in one place to get things ready to ship.

I painted a square (well it might be a rectangle I didn’t actually measure) on the wall with chalkboard paint. I have had the paint hanging around for months waiting on another project that has never happened. I marked out the squarangle with my level and then bordered it with Frog tape. Seriously, DO NOT use any other tape beside Frog tape if you want a crisp line. I have used a ton of different painters tape in my past years of DIY and working with clients. When I found Frog tape I fell madly in love. I used it for my first project of my Son’s bedroom seen here. That was a lot of stripes at 7+ months pregnant and frog tape was amazing. This is not a sponsored post and I am not being compensated for saying this at all I just firmly believe in crisp paint lines and the easiest way to get them . :)  Oh and did you know you have to let chalkboard paint cure for several days and then condition it? Who knew. ;)

Okay moving on from the chalkboard. I found this enamel top table on the side of the road several years ago and have had it in my laundry room for folding since then. It is great and I can still use it for folding in it’s current location/use. The bins underneath have some of my etsy product, and larger boxes for shipping. Oh and isn’t that floor the bomb? I would never even consider taking it out. ;) Those rad metal tubs are from West Elm right before I started this project. They are for planting winter bulbs. :) But I have a black thumb and they where to cool and inexpensive to leave behind.

I’ve had these wire baskets laying around from my oooooold craft room before it was Luke’s room and have never found a place for them. So up they went for pretty supplies I want to see.

Um this idea for storing washi tape came to me as I am pulling everything together on the wall! I think it’s quite genius. :) At least for my use. It’s just the outer ring of an embroidery hoop. I have a drawer full as I can’t seem to pass them up at Thrift stores. Never buy them new, they are seriously less than a dollar at a thrift store.

I hung some  bakers twine on a string so it’s easy to roll off and cut.

I brought my lovely little brass fruit in here to keep me and the jingle bells company.

Well that’s about it! It is much more pleasant to wrap and ship lately. :)

Pardon the odd lighting in the photos, remember it is in my dingy barely lit laundry room.  Just keeping it real, although I guess if that was completely true I would show you the rest of the room but that’s not going to happen.:)

My Mom and I participated in our first Flea Market this weekend! It was awesome. This is our booth. Vintage Trunk, my mom came up with the name. We had such a blast, preparing and setting up the booth. It is so much fun to be validated by selling vintage you find to someone else.  LOVE IT. I will hopefully be doing a little etsy sale of some vintage in my currently closed woollypetalsvintage. So stayed tuned. In the meantime take a walk around our booth.

The check out area. I sketched our logo I designed onto a chalkboard for a booth sign.

Some furniture and toys.

This was a fun display of linens and kitchen utensils.

The school and travel stuff. Every one of those globes sold. And some of the luggage too.

Christmas, not as popular as we expected but we’ve still got a bit of time before the Season starts.

Some trays, lampshades, art, and fun mid century lamp, and some embroidery I did.

Some embroidery pieces will be making there way into the shop.

Lots of dishes and randoms things.

Graters, sifters, and games. Oh My!

Thermos’ and bundt tins.

Some vintage fabric garlands.

And back to the sign and the checkout spot.

We participated in The Pec Thing in Pecatonica, IL. It is a good sized show and had record attendance this weekend. If you are ever in or around Rockford (closest big city) in September or May you must attend.

We have a lot to learn, but we had a blast and did super well. I can NOT wait for the spring show. Now I get to shop some more. ;)

So I finally jumped in and tackled my gallery wall! I am rather smitten. It turned out better than I expected and was really quite simple, at least thanks to Sausha from Sweet Pickins post about how she tackled a wood wall in her kitchen.

Okay let’s start at the beginning. My old wall, missing a couple pictures. I knew I wanted a change, not to mention we needed to add new pictures of Luke and other family. I had been tossing around the idea of a white plank wall for awhile but thought it would be to expensive, and typical pine wood planks are almost an 1″ thick which I didn’t like.  But once I saw Sausha’s post I set out to tackle this wall.

A few in process pictures. I had a helper picking up my wood. I had Home Depot cut my 8′ x 4′ strips into 2′ x 8′ strips. My husband and I then use a table saw to slice them down to just under 6″. They are by no means perfect, but I think that you probably can’t tell and if so it adds to the charm. Then I just attached them to the wall with my non compressor battery operated nail gun. I admittedly had to use a hammer to help some of the nail gun nails in.

Hanging the frames….

I had all the frames as seen in the before picture. But I have been looking at thrift stores and found the three washed wood, and then painted a third teal one. I just put pictures in the frames based on size of picture matched to frame size, but not there orientation on the wall.

I don’t have any in process pictures of hanging the pictures, but I basically do a rough layout in front of the wall, and then start in the middle and work my way out in a spiral. I judge everything from eyesight only, but I have done walls for clients in the past where I am more precise and measure everything out. I like this way a tiny bit better for my own home, plus it’s easier, which is good.

I cut the arrows out several weeks ago with my jigsaw not knowing where I would hang them. But once I started the wall project I knew they would fit in perfectly, they are painted a neon yellow with grey on top, then sanded down so the yellow pops through.

I stitched up this little smile embroidery and covered the hoop with vintage fabric, to add a little whimsy to the wall.

Like I said, I am smitten!

Have you ever done a wood wall or gallery wall? I would love to see it if you have.

InstaFriday! YAY!

It has been a busy week. I spent sometime on a home decor project. I will be blogging more about that later. Mostly I have been working on bigger things this week, and less instant gratification. So here ya go! Linking up with Jeanette at Life Rearranged.

Luke helped me out getting some wood / the start of my wood slat wall / learning to use utensils is messy business

Luke gets more and more adventurous everyday, I guess Danger is his middle name / Family Photo / Washi tape entertains well for awhile

Working on some stitching / new pjs are the best / a sneak peak at my almost complete wall

Cool Luke, he actually wore his sunnies for longer than 30 seconds / POPcorn is the best / Me and my boy

Oh Instagram, how I love thee! You make my grainy cell phone pictures look so much better.

Do you know about my Handmade Gifting Page? If you don’t please, please check it out.

You can click on the picture above to go straight to the page, or the link up there right under my header all the way to the right has some more info on it.

But the general idea is, you go and like the Facebook page. Then each month I have a post you can nominate someone on. I like to hear why you nominate that specific person in about one sentence. I love it when people nominate others who are having a hard time, in the midst of a medical issue, or relationship problem. It’s nice for everyone, but especially people in rough times to feel love. And what better way to receive a handmade item specifically for them.  At the end of the month I randomly draw a name and then send that person a gift on behalf of the Nominator. No Stings Attached.

Here are a couple of gifts, I have given.

Owl Pillow – I have a few of these in my shop

Typewriter Case Bag

For my two year celebration last October I gave away two vintage sheet quilts I made.

Ruffled Apron

A Good Book Stitched Art

Just a few of the gifts I have made. You can click on the description to get more information on each one in their blog posts.

I usually don’t give items I have in my shop away, but sometimes, as you can see, if the item fits for the person I make one specifically for them. I find it a fun way to express my creativity in items I may not sell, or use for myself. I also just like giving to people, and I feel my creative gifts are a gift from God, and I have the responsibility to share what He has given me, be it by making things for people or teaching people.

I don’t always blog about the gifts, so you can see more in the albums on the Facebook page. I would love it if you came and had a visit.
