We gifted the kids a smallish (read: 7ft diameter) trampoline for Christmas, and set it up in the basement. The max weight is 100lbs so mommy and daddy are not allowed. Darn. So crushed! This has allowed for copious amounts of downtime for me where I get to sit and hand stitch. The downfall of having it in the basement is they don’t really want to go down without an adult as it’s “scary”.

I have since pulled out my scrappy trip around the world quilt to hand quilt. The quilt has been in various states over the past three years, top was sewn within a couple weeks of Christmas when I caught the bug at that time of sewing a scrappy trip quilt. The top sat for a year till the following Christmas when I managed to get it basted. Then it sat for another two, yes two, years knowing I wanted to hand quilt snowflake like starbursts all over it. So it’s the perfect quilt for jumping time and also when I just need to sit and be next to my kids but not engaged.

Okay so that’s really an unnecessarily long opening to the fact that now I had little scissors, needles, and thread that need to be toted all over the house and not left out for kids to stab themselves with. So I searched for a pattern or tutorial on pinterest and stumbled across this insane cuteness. A Sewing Organizer bag tutorial.  I was smitten. While it is fully a picture tutorial it helped me figure out what I wanted and I made up my own from there.

Folded up it fits in my hand, and I put a little strap on the back to loop my finger or hand through.

The arms fold in and are elastic bungeed to allow for a little bit of give. The legs fold up and the ears fold down and snap to the legs.  I gave it a cute little face replicating my cat pouches.

I used cotton and steel salvage from Sarah Watts new line Cat lady for the little straps and the bias to hold the interior fabric pocket. I want to be able to lift to the pocket to access the scissors. The pocket is an expandable pocket and has a flap to help keep my thread and thimble inside.

The Pocket lifts up to access the scissors that slide into one strap and have another strap to snap over the handles so they don’t fall out.

I added a stitched down piece of felt to hold needles and pins.

And then it folds back up again into a cute little safe and manageable pouch.

You can see the template with dimensions in Centimeters on the tutorial I linked to. I did end up making mine smaller. The finished folded size is 4″ x 6″.

The Outside fabric is Lotta Jansdotter collection Lucky, the Inside main fabric is Cotton and steel from Sarah Watts Tokyo Train Ride collection, the pocket main is Cotton and Steel from Sarah Watts Cat Lady Collection, The yellow and linen polka dot is Jones and Vandemeer Sevenberry, and the felt is from Benzie Design.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
