Luke’s Room

Luke’s Room

So the babies room is basically finished. I may add a couple of things, like the closet door. :) But for now I am 110% satisfied with the outcome. Now all we need is the baby! T-26 days.

The view from the dresser area. Dresser is to my right (you can see the navy changing pad) and the door to the hallway is to the left.

Looking into the room from the doorway.

I hung simple white grommeted cotton panels at the windows, and will be replacing the mini-blinds for wood shades before Luke starts sleeping in this room full time.

Looking at the dresser area from the doorway. The crib and chair are to the left. This is a vintage dresser I found at a local used furniture store. I sanded and painted it white. The handles are original. The navy changing pad is a cooshee changer, it requires no covers.

I found this fun rhinoceros cardboard trophy at west elm and couldn’t refuse. :) The Rhinoceros is cardboardsafari.

This is a chair I slipcovered in white cotton for easy laundering. The grouping of pictures above the chair are, a framed print from johnwgolden, a black vintage handheld chalkboard, a wire L from Anthropolgie, yellow wood painted sign “if your happy and you know it clap your hands” from cocoon in Geneva IL, and a black and white board mounted print of a scooter purchased years ago at Homegoods.

I also made the pillow out of scraps from his crib sheets and crib skirt.

This origami Mobile is from a dear friend. She had is custom made to match Luke’s colors from Markikomo.

I made a patchwork boppy cover, the hexagon quilt is carseat size, and I also made the origami sheet which inspired the mobile.

I designed and made this shelving unit from wooden stair treads and black plumbing pipe. I found the idea online somewhere (can’t find my link anymore) and after designing it, had all the pipes cut at Home Depot.

I found the round crunch tubs on the bottom and the navy and aqua bins at Homegoods. He has books held up by a west elm elephant bookend. The xylophone and the pyramid play center on the top shelf in picture are from thrift stores. The buses are from my grandfathers house, and the black vintage hand-held chalkboard is from a yard sale.

The above robot picture is from little korboose, the elephant bank I found on clearance at Target, the alligator is from Nordstroms, and the vintage camera was found at a flea market.

I found the exit sign at a thrift store (i think) and the vintage helicopter at a flea market, it’s hard to see but there is a metal airplane in front of both that is from my grandfather’s house.

This is just a close up of the pipe joints of the shelving unit.

I wanted to room to not have a theme and instead be tied together by color and like items. I think an animal theme kind of emerged, but I don’t think it looks themed.
I still need to find an ottoman, but and willing to wait for the proper size for the right size. Feel free to comment of email with any questions that I didn’t cover in the description. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. this is so amazing!!! and i still just have a big pile of crap in our nursery. i love all the vintage items you used, everything goes together so nicely

  2. LOVE this nursery, congrats on finishing it! I also am doing more of a color/eclectic thing for my little boy's nursery…i have robins egg blue with accents of yellow, orange, and brown. LOVE that "happy and you know it" print. It would be PERFECT. If you can post any more info about it, I would love it.

Good luck to you and thanks for sharing!
