I decided to hang a little somthing different than my normal fall wreath on the door this year.  When I stumbled across this metal rake at the Goodwill for $2 an idea started to form in my head.

I stumbled across a this wreath via Instagram, and this garland via Pinterest. You must check out those links, they are super inspiring.

So this is what I came up with through my inspiration.

I wrapped the handle with several larger strips of ripped fabric securing with hot glue. Then I wrapped over where the fabric meets with a few random scraps of fabric and some yarn.

I then took an old book I thrifted for projects like this a cut out a bunch of leaves in various sizes.  I loved how the leaves looked on the nesters garland when she just creased them, so I did that and it gave them such a better dimension. I then just took yarn and a plastic yarn needle and strung the leaves on three separate and varying length strands. I knotted each leaf on to stay in place and spaced them roughly 1″-1.5″ apart on the strand. I just tied the top of the garlands together to form that clump and then hung it over the rake. So simple.  I kind of want to fabric wrap everything, and definitely want to make some more leaf garlands.

Can you tell my door needs to be stripped and painted? Yep, just add that to the list. I am thinking charcoal, or aqua!?!?!?!

I participated in little bit funky fall swap that she posted about on Instagram. It was super fun to put the box together. I had Kim of wishflowergifts. So I put together a box of fall related goods, some new, some handmade. The goal was to send a box I would like to get!

I made a Noodlehead wide mouth pouch. Such a great pattern and the feather fabric is one of my recent favorites.

I made a crinkle apple for her baby girl and lined it with the super lovely Kokka apple print.

I also made a set of Danielle Thompson’s awesome pumpkins. This is the third? time I have made a batch of these and they are so easy and fun.

I also made a bib for her daughter and a fall garland just like the one in this post.

I had so much fun putting together this box and I have it on good authority that she loved it. :)

I am thinking of hosting a fall scarf swap! Any interest out there?

This month as found me constantly reflecting on what I am thankful for and how much I have to be thankful for.

I have been seeing lots of thankful trees and ways to express thankfulness this month that I love. I am trying to figure out something that works for us that I may be able to leave out all year long.

This garland was one of my thoughts, but I think I am going a different direction now. So now I just have a cute little garland in my dining room. I made it fallish with color but the prints will allow me to put it out at any time of year.

I am putting together some more of these for my craft show, and will be listing what doesn’t sell in my shop. I am also hoping to share a tutorial here.  One of the things that I am very thankful for and feel is a gift from God is my creativity. I want to share more of that here with giveaways of handmade items and tutorials so you can make it yourself.

I am planning a week of giveaways next week! One each day. So check back next week for that and for how my craft show went!

THANKS for stopping by! I know I always say it but it warms my heart when I get comments and when you pop by my little space. I hope that you take away something each time you stop here.

Wow, October is gone! It was a super super busy month for us as you may have noticed by my lack of posting here. Sorry about that!

We spent 9 days in Florida at Disney world in the beginning of the month with some of our favorite people. :)

Then home for a week, during which both David and I got super sick for several days.

Then off to Kansas for my big sisters wedding! So much fun to celebrate with her and lots of family.

Then back home to help with prep for one of my best friends sons 1st birthday party!

Soooo busy. I have also had a traveling husband when we have been home. So I have been single parenting half the time we have been home.  I say kudos to all your single parents out there. It’s tough when my lovely is away.

My Little man was a Monkey for Halloween, and went to bed exhausted in glow-in-the dark Skeleton pjs. :)

I finally got some fall decor up today. Not much, since I found that the majority of my fall decor is Halloweenish and that’s over. :) But that’s okay I had enough to make it feel like fall.

I also drove  and hour and a half last week to get a new to me sofa. :) I LOVE it. I have been perusing craigslists for weeks looking for the perfect shaped, sized, and priced sofa and finally came across one when I was at my sisters. So as soon as I got home I hightailed it out to see it and squash it in my suv to bring it home. I am redoing some of our living room and getting rid of our big entertainment center and tv since we never watch tv in there.

You can see the sofa we replaced in this post. (the brown one)

It is a slipcovered sofa which made it super easy to clean. But I do plan on making a new slipcover that is skirted and white. I am hoping to tackle that soon.  Oh and can you see my lamp shade project sitting over there on the floor. I will be sharing that when I finish.

Okay so you are all caught up with me! :) I have projects to share this month, a craft show in a week and a half to sew for, a craft weekend to host, some giveaways, a 1st birthday party to plan, and an almost 1 year old to enjoy and capture memories of.

Let me know what all you of have been up too. I will see you again soon with some fun stuff to share.

Thanks for stopping by!
