Woollypetals House Tour

· by Kristin

Today I shared a Woollypetals House Tour on my YouTube Channel. Deciding to share my home came from me being nosy myself and really loving seeing others home. I and my husband put SO much effort into making this home exactly what we wanted and I hope you enjoy seeing and reading about all the details. I am just going to pop some sources down below if you live in Chicago Land and want some awesome people helping you with a remodel or build project these are the people I would recommend. Click on the picture below to take you to the House Tour on YouTube. Or there is another link at the bottom of the post.

Sources

I am only recommending the contractors we used outside of our builder by name. I would highly recommend our builder as I have worked with several and he was by far the best I have worked with. The attention to detail was next level and every single sub contractor that came through and worked on the home was impeccable. In craftsmanship, courtesy, and cleanliness. But you will have to work with our builder to access them. ;)

Builder: Patrick J Murphey - PJ Murphey Website

Cabinetry: Darin Bazzell - Knapp Kitchens Website

Lighting: Megan of Hinsdale Lighting

Furniture Sources

Dining Table : Rob of Robert Russell Designs

Pottery Barn - Family Room Sofas, Kitchen Chairs, Brown Leather Chairs in Basement

Interior Define - TV room Sofa

Love Sac - Movie Theatre Sofa

All Play - Game Table in Basement

So much of our furniture is vintage, older, or redone. Please feel free to ask and if I have a source I will let you know.

Process

My husband and I worked with an architect employed by Oakley Home Builders. We interviewed a handful of architects and with my Interior Design background and the fact that we knew we would be very involved we picked our architect. Admittedly we did not continue with that builder even though we completed the architectural phase with them. I had worked with that builder prior and had a great experiences as the designer on those projects we ultimately decided that PJ Murphey was a better fit for us.

My husband and I treated designing our home like a full time job. We definitely missed stuff that our builder caught, and then add some little misses that nobody thought about and maybe you wouldn't think about till after the fact. I.e. I wish I had an outlet at the top of the front staircase so our Christmas Tree could be in the railing nook and be lit. Lol. Like I said "little misses".

I ultimately chose every finish, from the engineered hardwood floors, to the trim, doors, windows, the paint colors. All the lighting and hardware, plumbing fixtures, and appliances. I designed all the cabinetry with detailed dimensioned drawings. The counter tops, and any custom millwork like the bunkroom and the built in window seat. An example below of a page I would do for every single wall with cabinetry, millwork, or custom details I needed to detail for the builder and the craftsmen.

Christmas House Tour

Here are a few pictures of the house during the House Tour which was filmed in the Christmas season.

I hope you have enjoyed this House Tour. Please feel free to ask any questions. I do tend to get back to questions on Instagram faster. ;) But I do respond to comments here over time.
