Today is November 1st and the Capped Quilt Pattern Release! Yay! Are you excited to make a Capped Quilt? A Quilt full of adorable patchwork mushrooms! I hope so! Let’s take a look at some Capped Quilt Pattern Release Details.

Capped Quilt Details
The Capped Quilt is a quilt full of mushrooms. 8 mushrooms, one of which is duplicated in reverse to have a quilt with 9 mushroom blocks. The quilt is all traditionally pieced with the exception of the optional Foundation Paper Pieced (FPP) stars. The stars are not in the Cover Quilt but are shown in the small size quilt with the yellow background below. As I said they are optional. :)
The pattern includes a heart option to substitute in for the mushrooms dots. Shown in the small version with yellow background below.
This pattern is written similarly to my Ghost Party Quilt with separate pages and cutting info for each mushroom. But also have a page for each quilt size. A full 5 pages of color diagrams are there to help you piece all the individual parts of the mushroom.
Like so many of my patterns you have to option to customize your Capped Quilt by choosing which mushrooms you want, rearranging the order, or omitting one or two that don’t speak to you. I tried to design each mushroom with its own personality so there was a lot of variety.
Although the pattern is written with checkerboard mushrooms, shared in the Cover Quilt, and the other quilts shared here that I have made, you can definitely choose to make the mushroom all one color, more scrappy, or whatever you can imagine.
Just remember that any changes to the pattern may require different cutting info. :)
Links for things you may need. ;)
Included in the pattern is one page with both size quilt coloring images. But below you can download individual Capped Quilt Coloring Sheets.
Large Capped Quilt Coloring Sheet (size 72″ x 84″)
Small Capped Quilt Coloring Sheet (size 48″ x 60″)
There are helpful videos on my YouTube channel for the FPP Stars. The videos are for the To the Stars FPP star pattern and the Ghost Party stars so they may not be exactly the same wording or numbering as the stars in the Capped Quilt Pattern. But they are the same construction and will help you if you have never done FPP before.

Some other Capped Quilts
This was the first Capped Quilt I made. I changed a few of the Mushrooms after I it, to fix scale and proportion, so consequently the pattern is slightly different. But this is still a very fun, bright, and happy Capped Quilt so I am sharing it too.

Some fabric details
While the Capped Quilt Pattern has fabric requirements to achieve a lovely quilt I mention in the pattern about making the background more scrappy. Like so many of the woollypetals patterns the patchwork background lends itself well to a scrappy vibe. If you like that look try adding a few more prints to the amount required for the background material.
This is a great opportunity to shop your stash! You will also need less than the required amount for each background fabric when you are adding in more prints.
Playing with the mushrooms themselves would be very fun as well. Making the mushrooms more scrappy. Taking about the checkerboard effect and having the mushrooms all one color in lots of prints. Have fun and use your scraps!
If you’re new to quilt and don’t have a big stash do not worry. The included fabric requirements will help you achieve a lovely and moderately scrappy quilt.
