The Sparked Quilt Pattern was released on July 4th 2020. It is currently available in PDF format in my Etsy Shop. The Sparked Quilt pattern comes with both throw size and baby size yardage included in the instructions.
I designed the sparked quilt while tile shopping for a design project I am currently working on. Sound familiar? That’s how the Floored Pattern came to be as well. Unlike the Floored Pattern though, the Sparked Pattern changed a significant amount from the original inspiration tile to what it is now. I think it changed for the better. One of the names was Sparkler quilt which I think it emulates very well. But there is a quilt pattern by another designer of that name. A quilt name with spark or star in the title or similar to firework is a hard name to come by. Sparked is reminiscent of sparkler and since it’s release coincided with my daughters 4th of July birthday it seemed fitting.
The Spark Quilt has FPP sections combined with traditional piecing to achieve the finished quilt. FPP can be daunting if your new to it. To be very honest with you this FPP is very simple and doable by even a beginner. I have a YouTube Video you can watch of me piecing the FPP sections on the Sparked quilt. The video is linked in the Sparked PDF Pattern for easy access. You can also access it at the link below.

The Sparked quilt is a great pattern to use with large printed fabric just like my Floored quilt. It can be made scrappy, or with a full line of fabric, or with all solids, or used for applique or cross stitched panels. There are so many options. If you are on Instragram you can check out my pattern testers quilts on the hashtag #sparkedquilt to see different verisons. I can’t wait for that hashtag to fill up.
The Throw size measures 60″w X 72″ t, and the Baby size measures 36″ w X 48″ t. Since this pattern is sashed between the blocks, it would be simple to size up or down. Keep in mind you fabric requirements would change from the listed yardage when changing the size.
The Rainbow Sparked quilt above is made using Karen Lewis textiles fabric, with a few solids sprinkled in for the main squares. The background is scrappy Low Volume, and the sparks and sashing are Kona Black.
The Gingham Sparked Quilt above is made with Lizzy House Constellations as the background, a black and white gingham as the sparks and sashing, and a collection of prints and neon solids with applique for the main squares.
The Lliana Sparked Quilt above is made with Ruby Star Society Lliana Fabric for all the Main Squares, Ruby Star Society Starry Darlings for the background, and Tula Pink Mojito for the sashing and sparks.
Don’t you kinda think “windy, can’t see the whole picture” pictures are the best?
