I am sharing the Camp Mushroom Free Block with you today! Yay! I designed the Camp Mushroom Free Block for a Grace Company Summer Camp. And they have been so gracious to let me give it to all of you! YAY!

Camp Mushroom Block Details

Like I said I designed this block for Grace Company’s Summer Camp and had such a fun time filming it using thier cutie little Mini Quilter frame. The Camp Mushroom block is very quick and you can make it in two sizes.

A 20″ block shown above, and a 15″ block shown below. The sizes are the perfect sizing for a myriad of projects, a mini quilt, a pillow, a tote bag, or make a handful of fun blocks into a quilt top.

Because the Grace Company summer camp was treasre themed I design this block to use a large found textile as the mushroom cap. Something you treasure. ;) I found this adorable quilt block treasure to make the 15″ block below and found a vintage napkin for the 20″ block above. Of course the beauty of this block is you can use any block or fabric for the mushroom cap.

This is a tote bag I made using 2 15″ Camp Mushroom blocks that I hand quilted. I sewed three sides together with binding. Then I cut a little boxed corner on each bottom and bound that as well. I sewed the straps on with the bottom edge of the strap along the top edge of the bag and then bound the top edge with the strap edge inside the binding. The straps ended up laying down against the bag and looked nice but when you pulled them up to carry the tote they twisted the top bound edge in an odd way. So I just sewed the straps up creating the fun little loops on each strap and was able to hang a Beaded Sardine Charm from the loop. So a fun little detail and cute for charms!
