Construction Zone

A special little man’s 1st birthday was last week. So I put my thinking cap on and got to work on some constructing.

I found this great little construction worker hat in the dollar section at Target along with the houndstooth re-useable bag. I then started coming up with ways to make some cute felt tools and a tool belt to hold them.

I originally thought I would just make a toolbelt and buy cute plastic or wood tools, but after searching 4 stores and online I couldn’t come up with tools that where cute and inexpensive. So I looked on google images till I found some simple tools, after printing the picture, I traced and simplified them so they would be easy to construct. The screw driver has a stuffed handle and the flat end has cardboard in it to help it stay stiff. The hammer is stuffed also , and the wrench, crescent wrench, bolt, and saw all have cardboard inside to help them keep there shape.

I found these two fabrics in my stash and immediately thought I have to use the houndstooth to match the re-useable bag, so this is what I came up with.
Lastly I stitched the felt tool appliques on the re-useable bag so he can store his construction equipment in it when he is not working away. :)

I am starting to get in the mode of thinking up good boy crafts and projects now, and this one with how quick, cute, and simple it was will definitely make the cut.

Thanks for stopping by!
