Bobby the Bat

I saw this little bat on Pinterest and used it as inspiration to make a little Halloween bat for my Luke.

The adorable bat above is from udder and can be purchased here.

Here is what I made for Luke.  Bobby the Bat…..

He seems to have found a comfortable home in our lights. Little does he know he will be whisked of to Luke’s crib where all Luke’s animals end up by his on accord.

I sketched out the basic shapes for the body and wings on paper and then stitched on some fun eye details, and fangs. I quilted the wings with batting in between the layers for some extra texture.   I think he’s a cutie. Plus Luke likes him, and that’s what really matters, right?

Things I am loving this month on Pinterest. Some Inspiration, some project ideas, some just for fun. Follow me on Pinterest.

This chalkboard is Lovely. I could see a bunch of these hanging on a wall in a grouping for a play area or even outside on an exterior wall.

I think Luke needs this in our backyard. We are hopefully redoing our deck and patio area this fall and this could happen. Found Here.

Love these knobs and the simplicity of this jewelry storage. I am redoing mine as I have outgrown it, I may know be using knobs in part.
Speaking of Jewelry, this is amazing. I will be making some soon. Link to Tutorial.
I swoon over bright painted furniture. This one is particularly lovely, those knobs, that color.  But it makes me want to pull out my paint brushes and paint something bold!
I am redoing my Husbands in home Office and this is inspiring me. My husband is a little less glam. But the colors and feel of this room are awesome. I am currently planning out a big storage cabinet / bookcase that I will hopefully be building from scratch! Yikes.  From Lonny via Design to Inspire
I am so loving white walls. I would have already painted my living white if I didn’t have a toddler running around, giving me only a few hours during nap and after bedtime to do it.  Found via Decor Happy
So yeah, I have lots of projects on the brain, but oh so little time to do them. :) Hopefully eventually!
What inspires you? Let me know if you on Pinterest I am always looking for like minded people to follow.

I thought I would share a few of my weekly instagrams here since this is my main way of documenting life.

Linking up with Jeannett of Life Rearranged’s insta linky party.

We flew to Florida for a few days to play with cousins while the Husband worked at his office down there. / I worked on hexagons during naptime in Florida. / Luke had so much fun with his Cousins.

Lunching with these two boys is my favorite. / Some treasures I found while thrifting, was a super lucky day. / My second run of the month, it was rough.

I rather liked the outfit I wore on Sunday, it was a blouse I unearthed in my closet. /My little helper. / I linked up with the pinterest Challenge. Check it out for some great inspiration.

We saw goats at the zoo, Lukes favorite thing. / A new cape I made for Luke, post coming soon. / Our first harvest, a tiny red pepper…and gone.

I do love Instagram. It’s like a pictoral Facebook, I need more of my real life friends to get on there so I can quit Facebook all together. ;) Just kidding….kind of! I’m woollypetals on Instagram if you want to seek me out.

Pinterest Challenge

Some Lovely Ladies are hosting a Pinterest Challenge again.  Bower Power, Young House Love, Centsational Girl, Ten June Blog,  are all such inspirational blogs and are holding linky party’s for everyone to join in the fun of the Pinterest Challenge.

So I thought I would share this little project I did from some Pinterest inspiration.

This is my inspiration. I saw it on Pinterest, but the picture links back to Desire to Inspire.

I love the boldness of the 8 art. I like that it’s not perfect, the it’s a number, and thats it just simple black and white.  I also felt like I needed something different above my sofa. I like the instagram frame a ton, but I moved it to the basement to go with my yellow chairs. I just wasn’t feeling it above the sofa, so we had blank space.  Refresher.

So I found this framed canvas, sorry I forgot to snap a before picture. Just imagine an abstract canvas in soft greys, purples, light blue, pinks, really ugly. :) But framed with a simple nice frame, little to no texture, and the right size for roughly $4. Sold. I saw it and knew it would be perfect for this project and loads cheaper than buying a new one in a larger size.

So here you have it! I went with a 3. I guess mainly I did a 3 because we are a family of 3. :)

The simple process, I spray primed the canvas part, a little over spray got on the the outer edges of the frame which you can see in a picture further down. I haven’t decided if I want the sides of the frame to be black, white, or a color, so for now they are unfinished.

(iphone pictures above)

I then printed the largest 3 on 8.5″ x 11″ paper and used it as a rough guide to free hand a larger three as shown on the left. Basically I sketched it with pencil on the white background and then filled in the black around it. Simple, and I didn’t have to worry about white covering black if I had done it the opposite. To give you an idea of scale, the canvas is roughly 2′ x 3.5′.

We hung it up and just didn’t love it. We (hubby and I) thought it was fine, but we like to Love the things in our home. So I revisited the inspiration picture and realized the 3 wasn’t big enough.  I also thought a little simpler lines would be nicer. So I sketched, with pencil, the larger three and painted it. I had to go back over some of the old three with black too, It turned out better to me this way, because it gave it some depth and some of the imperfection I wanted.

See the unfinished edges? Any weigh in on the outer edge frame color would be great. :) The above and below picture give you a bit of a close up to see the more distressed look of the paint.

And the whole living room wall before (so you don’t have to scroll all the way back up to compare).

And after. :) Much better. It just looks more us. I still have the Instagram Frame and incase you missed it you can check out this post of my basement craft room tour to see where it landed.

Thanks so much to the lovely Ladies behind the Pinterest Challenge for Challenging us and for hosting the great linky parties. Check them out for some awesome Pinspiration.

So the wheels have been turning since seeing the Pinterest Challenge at younghouselove a week or so ago! They are so right, we pin, and pin, and pin, but are we doing anything with all this pinspiration? I didn’t have time to take on the challenge when they first announced it, but I finally decided the other night I needed to do some just for fun/relaxing crafting. So I browsed my pinterest boards and this one is what stuck out to me the most at that moment. Oh my gosh I love this so much!  So I started pulling and cutting fabrics and this is what I came up with.

Not bad! :) I rather like it. It ended up measuring somewhere around 24″ square. I haven’t decided what to do with it yet. I have some time before it will be the proper season! ;) I am thinking either a super chunky white ornate frame or I have been tossing the idea around of making a bunch of these trees in different sizes, I think tall and skinny would be to fun, a making a Christmas quilt!

I made a mini patchwork 6 point star to top it off. I just used my knowledge I have gained on these stars from making my swoon quilt blocks which apparently is not much since it took me like 6 tries to figure this thing out. Yikes! p.s. it was late. ;)

It’s the same process that I am using for my stacked quilt (which I have a completed stack to share) without the wonkiness I am using for the quilt. Just cut different size strips and lay out till it looks right and then sew together.

So that’s my Pinterest pinspiration creation!  Oh and I’m pretty sure I will be making some of these, maybe smaller? for my mom, sister, and aunt for Christmas decor because I know they would all love it. ;) Those I will frame.

Have you completed any projects inspired by Pinterest lately? I’d love to see them so leave me a link. Oh and if you’d like to follow me or check out my boards my Pinterest link is on the right.
