From:Me To:You Quilts

These are the two completed Quilt Tops for my From:Me To:You Giveaway in October, ready to go to the Quilters. :) This will be the first time I have used a professional quilter and I am so excited, and a tad sad I can’t keep them. :) But I know they will be loved by there new owners.

They are made completely with vintage sheets! Yay! It barely diminished my stash so I will be making lots more projects with them.  I will of course share the completed quilts when they are done before I send them away.

It was a mustard kind of week

I realized through this I don’t have a lot of thrifted clothing anymore. From this discovery I am thinking about limiting myself to only shopping the thrift stores for a couple months. This will be a fun adventure for me along with saving some dough while I am going down sizes (slowly but surely) due to some weight loss.

Sunday: Church, and spending time with friends.

I guess this skirt could be considered a bargain since it was free. :) It was a wonderful gift from my fabulous group of Bible Study ladies for my birthday. They know me so well.

Shirt: Target

Skirt: Anthropologie (gifted)

Shoes: Steve Madden

Necklace: Forever 21

Monday: We didn’t leave the house this day. But I wanted to get dressed and look cute. So…

You can see my nice tan…ur sunburn neckline from Sunday, and trust me if my sleeves weren’t that long you would see a lovely farmers tan arms also.  This Yellow tunic is relatively new, but I just altered it to be a little more fitted since you could seriously have fit two of me in it.

Shirt/Tunic: Forever 21 ( I think it came with a belt of the same fabric which I need to find)

Cardigan: Thrifted (A.N.A brand from Jcpenny)

Capris: Banana Republic Outlet

Belt: Target

Flops: Old Navy

Last week I didn’t make it to my Weight Watchers meeting because Luke didn’t sleep much that night so we were both exhausted and cranky. :(

WIWW family addition!

This was a fun week for me clotheswise, for a couple reasons. I realized that I don’t have to nurse Luke out of the house to much anymore since he is eating 3 solid meals a day and mainly nurses for naps and bedtime.  Which opens up more possibilities in the way of clothing. i.e. dresses that don’t have a button top, long tunics with belts, real bras! ;) Yeah, that’s right.  This also makes me change clothes more than once a day if I am going out, say for dinner with the family, or with the ladies to a movie (after Luke’s in bed).

Outfit 1: Wednesday Night dinner out with my boys

This was  a prime example of changing before going out. My husband dresses up for work and so I like to wear a little bit nicer clothes if we go out f at night even if it’s just to Chipotle (Yum)! You know, jeans and a shirt(even a cute shirt) don’t really compliment men’s dress attire that well.

Dress: Ann Taylor Loft

Cardigan: Francesa’s

Sandals: Target

Necklace: Target ( and Yes Luke puts any necklace I wear right in his mouth, but I refuse to give them up)

My dates for the above outfit.

Luke: Outfit is Amy Coe for Babies’r’us David: I think everything is from Kohl’s except his 5th and Lamar slim fit shirt.

Outfit #2: Saturday night Harry Potter date with 4 lovely ladies

It’s been a bit cooler in the evenings, and it’s always slightly chilly in a movie theater. Which lead me to put on jeans for the first time in months and grab a cardigan. Oh and yes, it took us awhile to all find a date to go see Harry Potter, and yes we did see it in 3d (awesome), and yes I LOVED it. ;)

Shirt: Linen Tank for Gap Outlet

Caridigan: Anthropologie

Jeans: Old Navy

Flats: Salvation Army (Brand new from Target)

Necklace: Kohl’s

Here’s a close up of my cardigan addition.  I bought this cardigan for around %60 off at Anthropolgie in their sale department and with my birthday %15 off coupon. I love it, and had been looking for a mustard cardigan for 2 years. Yes, two years. So I was sad to discover a tiny hole on the shoulder the first time I wore it. I thought about returning it, but it was the only one they had, and the two year search was in the back of my mind. So I grabbed a couple cute neutral fabrics from my stash and cut out a bunch of circles. I backed them with the best heat and bond stuff I have ever used and ironed them on. I like it, and feel it adds a fun little extra touch.

Outfit #3: Fabric shopping and ladies bible study

I bought this tunic on Monday and LOVE it. Its comfy, cute, and was less than $20.

Tunic: Forever 21 (it’s probably a dress, but I can’t do that short ;)

Cardigan: Target

Belt: Borrowed from another Forever 21 Dress

Capris: Banana Republic Outlet

Sandals: Target

Shell Cuff: Gift from Brother and Sister-In-Law from I think Jamacia? or some other exotic local.

Weight Watchers: I gained 2.4 lbs last week. Boooooooo! ;) Oh well. I know why, I wasn’t following the plan well at all, and I seem to have a weakness for Chocolate Chip Cookies lately. I am hoping I did better this week.

Blue Wednesday

I have decided two things from writing this post.

1. I wear a lot of blue. Even though I only am sharing two outfits this week, thinking back, I am not sure I went a day without wearing blue.  Hmm… I may need to think about other colors to enhance my wardrobe.

2. This photo angle gives me a double chin. In almost every picture. Oh well! I’m okay with it, obviously, since I’m sharing pictures of myself on the internet!

On to the Outfits!

Sunday: To church we did go

I belted my Sunday outfit again. Still not sure about the whole belt not in belt loops thing. But it worked since I had a button up top to nurse in, and I feel like I need to do more fitted on top when I wear a flowy skirt.

Top: J. Crew Outlet

Tank: Nursing tank from Target

Skirt: Banana Republic Outlet

Belt: Thrifted

Sandals: Target

Necklace: Lia Sophia

Tuesday: Ladies Bible Study

I have been looking for cute short sleeve cardigans and just found this one at Target this afternoon.  Does anybody else want to wear new clothes the same day they buy them. I always do if I am going out later. ;)

Cardigan: Target

Top: Francesca’s

Capris: Target

Sandals: Steve Madden (gift from my Bible study ladies several years ago)

Oh and I did put a necklace on when I left the house. But it’s not in the picture since Luke goes straight for them.

Yep, that’s about it! Since I am writing this on Tuesday night and Scheduling it for Wednesday I will have to update my Weight Watchers Stats  later today. I am not looking forward to weigh in as I had a rough food week.

put your feet up

This super quick project has been on my list for months, since I bought the ottoman for $6.99 at Goodwill. I didn’t buy a new chair for Luke’s nursery, instead I slipcovered a small upholstered chair I had thrifted for around $10 at Goodwill.
Well after having Luke and using that chair almost daily I realized I needed an ottoman, and since I had thrifted and covered the chair instead of buying a new one, I couldn’t just go out and buy the matching ottoman. Bummer. So the search began and ended shortly thereafter with this little bad boy below.

As you can see above it is a simple round ottoman covered in a lime green ultrasuede. Not bad, but I am not partial to ultrasuede/microfiber at all and the color although it doesn’t clash with Luke’s room wasn’t perfect either. So I put it on my ever growing to do list to cover it.

Tonight was the night my friends. I had to do a few adjustments to Luke’s room today so I thought I would knock out this project so his room is complete. It was to simple. Isn’t that always the case with the projects we postpone. It seriously took me 20 minutes.

I just cut a circle 1″ larger than the circumference of the ottoman, added some premade piping leftover from his crib skirt, and attached the side piece. I did serge all the interior seams in the event that I have to wash it. But still less than 20 minutes. Why did I wait so long.  Tomorrow I will put it back in his room and enjoy that little check of the list.

Have you done any quick projects that you procrastinated to long on lately? Link up in a comment and I would love to check them out.

Thrifting Thursday- a little late

My thrifting friend, Ronda, and my schedules didn’t sync up yesterday. So just Luke and I hit a couple places.

We went to a Goodwill in Wheaton IL, and Savers in Lombard IL. I happened to find a couple great things.

I found this pile of Sheets at Savers. Love them all. I have been on the hunt for simpler and more boyish vintage sheets lately since I have a tub of floral sheets and a baby boy. I hit the jackpot this week. The stripes are destined for a quilt back and to be made into some simple play mats for the Luke, and the plaid has a couple spots on it so I will cut out the usable yardage and use it as regular fabric.

I also found this beautiful tray at the Goodwill. I have a small love affair with silver trays and platters which you may know if you have seen my kitchen walls. I saw this one and had to grab it. I am using it next to my sewing machine to hold my current project.

The little bowl on it holds my little snips while I’m sewing so I don’t have to move my trash can around all the time.

I found a couple other small treasures that where being cleaned when I snapped these pictures.  A stack on miniature bunt tins to use for a pincushion project, and two little 2″ tall santa mugs to add to my collection. I am working on only buying things I love so I don’t overload on stuff.

Thrifting Thursday @ The Brown Elephant

My thrifting partner in Crime Ronda and I mosied out to Oak Park, IL to check out The Brown Elephant. It did not disappoint my friends.

My Other little Partner in Crime!

While, it is smaller than the big Goodwill’s and Salvation Army’s that hang out on every corner in our neighborhood, it was a fun stop to make. They do have a small selection of clothing, shoes, and accessories, and a decent book wall, but it is mostly filled with furniture and housewares at very reasonable prices. I found several pieces that I wouldn’t have minded bring home. But, thoughts of what my husband would say made me leave them behind.

I came home with a few small items that I just couldn’t pass up. A super cute silky sheath blouse in lovely greens. I am sure you will be seeing it in a WWIW post in the future. I also found this lovely glass jar with a lid and a R etched in the side. It is going in our upstairs bath to hold q-tips since our current jar has no lid. I also picked up a couple books. I am trying to finish collecting the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich in hardcover, so I added Twelve Sharp today for a mere $1.5o. I also found this lovely 1960’s patchwork pattern book. I am loving all the patchwork blocks it shows and has patterns for.

So that’s all folks! I recently found my copy of The Bargain hunter that is chock full of thrift and resale shops in my area. So I am hoping to flip through it before next week and find another new place.

Oh and I realized on the way I should have brought my camera along to snap a few shots in the shop, so next week that’s in the plan. :)
