A young lady turned 9 this past week and I attended her party on Saturday. In my opinion this is getting in a pre-teen age that is a little pickier about things, so that in mind I made a couple of headbands for the girl. Because who doesn’t love hair things?
For the 1st one I crocheted a row of double crochet for about 14″ and then sewed on a 3″-4″ piece of elastic to connect the ends. I then added some cute vintage buttons in bright colors.
The 2nd one I cute 2 strips each of 3 fabrics, each strip was about 1/2″ wide x 18″ long, then I braided the 3 different strips together (twice), super simple, then I layered the ends and added a 3″-4″ piece of elastic.
The elastic on both was machine stitched on for extra durability.
These where two of the simplest things to make. Any young girl, teenager, mom, avid crafter, pretty much anybody can make these. They are super cute, and very stylish right now.
My favorite part may have been packaging them. My thought after making them was, how will she know what they are if they are just tossed in a gift bag? So I cut a piece of foam core to stretch them around, and then covered it with scrap paper and printed masking tape and cute stickers.
I wrote on the back what they were just to clarify further. I am sure she would have known, but I think this is just a nice extra touch.
I know that people are selling these all over the place on etsy, but I kind of want to make some to sell because I loved making the packaging. :) At the very least I know some other young ladies that will be getting some for Christmas!
Thanks for stopping by!
I love the headbands..I need some for photo props! And the packaging is uber adorable! :)
