New Master

New Master

Okay Please pardon the messy first two pictures as they are just to show you the original color.

It was painted this blue when we moved in and as it is a nice color I abandoned my plan of going dark brown or charcoal with a promise from the husband that I could paint it at a later date. ;)
The below picture also shows the huge slanted wall unpainted, this is the wall our bed is on and I have always hated the fact that it is white, but my husband didn’t want to paint it due to there being no definite line where wall meets ceiling. I remedy this with my new redesign.

Okay now onto the pretty! :) The color is a little darker than it appears in the pictures. My goal was to make it slightly darker for resting, but an overall light and airy feel like a beachy cottage without blatant beach accents.

The new color is a lovely smoky grayish blue that appears different throughout the day. The actual color is Slate Green from Glidden.

I painted the walls. And then to accommodate the fact that two of the walls are slanted and run right into the ceiling I added this trim to the ceiling to allow me to paint the slanted walls. I feel as if the ceiling trim gives a beachy cottage feel. Hopefully? ;)

I made an upholstered headboard. This project has been on my list for 4 years now, but I just stumbled across this fabulous fabric a couple of weeks ago and it all fell into place.
The fabric was 80% at Calico Corners, it is beige linen embroidered with white paisley. LOVE.

I then had to revamp my pillows as they where mostly beige before, and went all white with a splash of color. I found the orange pillow at Homegoods, and made the striped cover for my body pillow.

I kept the existing curtains as they are cotton velvet and just shorten them from a puddle to just touching the ground. I also replaced our awful mini blinds with faux wood blinds, which in my opinion look SO much better and give more light control at night, which living close to a busy road is necessary.

This is another picture of the ceiling along with my $12 Goodwill mirror I painted white.

I also made this Necklace holder our of an old frame, foam core, and cute fabric. It is hanging above a hook bar that I put my scarfs and belts on.

The dressers in the first picture are still the same as of right now. I have a tall dresser in my basement to paint and am looking for a similar style short dresser to match it. I will then move a small beige chair up from the Living room for when the baby arrives. So it’s definitely still a work in progress, but the largest parts have been crossed off the list.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I just bought a can of slate green from lowe's and did a search to see if I could find a pic of a room with color on the walls. I was so happy to find your blog. Your room looks wonderful and confirms that I made wise color choice. I just can't wait to see it go up! Also enjoyed reading the rest of the page…very creative.
