Cleaning up!

Cleaning up!

I have been making some burp cloths lately as I like things that are cuter than just a plain cloth diaper. :)

I tried to attach fabric to one side of a plain burp cloth but I still didn’t love it. It was thick and stiff, and time consuming as I used binding around the edges to attach the two pieces together. I then saw some burp cloths somewhere? probably online??? My brain fails me a lot lately when I try to remember stuff. :) They where terry cloth on one side and super soft, yes I must have seen them in person if I know they were soft. ;)

So I picked up a couple yards of the softest white terry cloth I could find. Not a huge variety at the regular big box crafting stores. But I found some at Hancock Fabrics.

I then proceeded to struggle profusely with the terry cloth because it is a weighty fabric and therefore stretches with it’s weight as it moves. After a couple of attempts of it stretching like crazy, I finally cut out my cotton fabric and pinned it right sides together to the terry cloth with TONS of pins. I then cut out the terry cloth and sewed it all together going very slowly as I took out the pins. I sewed a ribbon loop in one corner of each cloth, and left about a 3″ opening to turn each cloth. I then ironed the cloths and pinned the edges again so I could top stitch around the edges.

As you can see, this method worked out wonderfully as I made quite a little stack. :) I am hoping with fingers crossed that they absorb nicely and wash well as I would hate for all that work to be for nothing in the event they don’t hold up well. :) They ended up measuring about 12″ x 20″ finished and I cut them roughly 13″ x 21″.

Thanks for stopping by!
